The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect is a fantastic tyre. It’s performance is very impressive considering how drive able the tyre is day to day. On track the tyre holds up very well, supplying ample grip and seems to be lasting considerably longer than other semi slicks I have experienced. The thing that surprised me the most was it’s performance in the wet, I would say it has comparable wet performance to a Michelin Pilot Super Sport, if not better, especially once the tyre has built up a bit of heat ! Overall, it’s the perfect tyre if you want a capable semi slick and don’t want to worry about changing your tyres every time it rains.

The most useable semi slick on the market !

I have decided to purchase these tyres for my Golf Mk VII GTI TCR after not beeing fully satisfied with driving behaviour of the vehicle during spirited driving with factory fitted tyres from other manufacturer. As I had good experience with MIchelinCup 2 tyres mounted on my Porsche 991.2 GT3 I decided to purchase set of Pilot sport Cup 2 Connect tyres. I was ready to sacrifice some riding comfort and performance on wet surface. After fitting the tyres I was positively surprised. The behaviour of the car improoved in all areas on dry surface. Traction, lateral grip, braking performance and steering feedback improoved radically. Theese tyres give me so much confidence during spirited driving. And I was surprised that there is no trade off in driving comfort or noise. For me game changer and leading product in its class. Best tyre I have ever had fitted on my vehicles.

Game changer

ROAD USE
• Adhere to the inflation pressures recommended by the car manufacturer

TRACK USE
- ESSENTIALS
• For a track day, always begin with inflation pressures recommended for ROAD USE that gradually bring MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 tyres up to temperature
• After a steady run of laps, check and only then slightly adjust the inflation pressure to reach the best operating level
- HOT TYRES
• The best operating pressure of MICHELIN Pilot SPORT CUP 2 tyres is between 2.3 bar (33 psi) and 2.7 bar (39 psi) when hot, depending on vehicle model and track where used
• However, some vehicle models will need a higher inflation pressure than 2.7 bar (39 psi when hot)
- COLD TYRES
• Don’t ever use an inflation pressure below 1.9 bar (28 psi) when cold
• To optimize track longevity of MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 tyre, Michelin strongly recommends to use a minimum inflation pressure that falls between 2.0 (29 psi) and 2.4 bar (35 psi)

CAUTION
• Regularly check remaining tread depths (at least 1.6 mm) and make sure there is no damage
• Regularly check the external sidewalls: if you notice any level of wear, such as disappearance of the sidewalls markings, this can be a sign that inflation/operating pressures are TOO LOW. In this case, re-set the pressure to at least a minimum of +0.2 bar (+ 3 psi) to increase grip and maximize track longevity
• The best performance (grip) is always obtained with the grip of the tread pattern and not by running on the sidewalls.

After a track day
• Always check the wear of your MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 tyres and remaining tread depths, which should be at least at 1.6 mm to make sure there is no damage
• Before leaving track to drive on the road again: make sure tyres have cooled, and re-set pressure to car manufacturer’s recommended level
• Do not forget to switch on any electronic safety and assistance systems in your car, as well as resetting the tyre pressure monitoring system

• CAUTION !
• If not used for a prolonged period of time, remove the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 tyres (mounted on their wheels) and reduce their pressure to half their normal value to store
• Store tyres in a clean, dry area, away from direct sunlight and ozone sources (electrical devices and materials/chemicals) and above 0°C (32°F) in accordance with the information provided by MICHELIN in technical documentation or websites
• Do not use, store, handle or ship MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 tyres at ambient temperatures below -10°C (14°F)
• Under these conditions the tyre components can degrade, resulting in reduced performance, and at low temperatures can lead to cracks or damages to the tyre compound and hence reduce potential in use
• Never use a tyre with cracks, breaks or damage to the sidewall or tread. In case of doubt please consult your local MICHELIN technical department
• When used for long periods in an intensive manner on circuits, please be aware that damage can occur to the tyre and its carcass from regularly running over the kerbs at the edges of the circuit
• It is advisable to visually check the tyres after each run, prior to going back onto the circuit
• In case of prolonged running over the kerbs (or also running heavily off the track) it is advisable to verify the internal condition of the tyre and it’s construction by demounting it from the wheel and having it professionally inspected for any damage, both on the interior and the exterior of the tyre

Geometrical settings e.g. Camber/Toe
• On the track, geometry settings (camber primarily) can be modified to improve cornering speeds and grip through maximizing tyres' footprint and also to prevent excessive wear/fatigue to the outer shoulder.
• Camber : for optimal results on a circuit , the negative camber settings should be between -1.5° &  -3° dependent upon the circuit layout and the type of vehicle. NEVER exceed -4° of negative camber
• Camber values for road use must be based upon the recommended « road » settings to ensure the correct handling and behavior for both the vehicle and the tyres

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
• MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 is a track tyre (semi slick tyre) optimized for DRY track use and the ultimate version MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 R for extreme DRY performance on race tracks.
On wet tracks or roads semi slick tires, and especially in a worn state, can be highly impacted by aquaplaning phenomena. Drive carefully and with reduced speeds on wet roads. Make sure as well that the vehicle assistance systems are switched on.
However, these tyres meet the legal requirements for use on the public highway and open roads of the countries where it is distributed.
• For track and road handling reasons, the fitting of a set of four tyres is strongly advised
Complementary information for the use of MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 R:
As a special tire for extreme dry conditions, the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 R is requiring a warm-up phase, comparable with racing tires to ensure to reach his optimal performances.
